Official: Immobile announces retirement at age 36 after legendary career

Former Italy and Lazio striker Ciro Immobile, who had been with Paris FC, has announced his retirement at the age of 36.

The centre-forward was one of the most prolific players in Serie A history, and his contract with the Ligue 1 side was meant to run until June 2027.

However, he decided to hang up his boots following injury problems, despite scoring two goals with two assists in just 12 games for the club last season.

End of the road for Immobile

Immobile only joined Paris FC in January after six games for Bologna at the start of the campaign.

The news was announced to his Paris FC teammates while he fought back tears today, with his extraordinary CV outlined, including 656 games and 350 goals.

He scored 17 goals in 57 senior caps for Italy, was European Champion with Italy in 2021, and won the Serie A Capocannoniere title on four separate occasions.

Immobile started out in the Salernitana youth academy and quickly came to Juventus, going on to play for Siena, Grosseto, Pescara, Genoa, Torino, Borussia Dortmund, Sevilla, Lazio, Besiktas, Bologna and Paris FC.

The most significant time of his career was no doubt with Lazio, lasting from 2016 until 2024.
