Done deal: Aston Villa strike agreement with Parma for Japan international Suzuki

Multiple outlets in Italy and the UK are reporting that Aston Villa have wrapped up a deal with Parma for the transfer of Japan international goalkeeper Zion Suzuki.

Done deal: Suzuki set to join Aston Villa from Parma

Villa have agreed to match the transfer fee that Paris Saint-Germain had been prepared to pay for Suzuki until that deal collapsed on Saturday. The 23-year-old is now heading for the Premier League instead at a cost of €30m plus up to €5m in bonuses.

Suzuki had been on the verge of joining PSG, with reports that he could then return to Serie A to play for Juventus on loan in 2026-27, but that deal collapsed on Saturday amidst reports that the player’s agents had sought last-minute commission fees in the region of €5m.

He is now set to join Aston Villa instead on a five-year contract according to reports from The Athletic’s David Ornstein.

This could still be good news for Juventus, as Suzuki is likely to become Aston Villa’s immediate first-choice, which should then make Emilliano Martinez available for transfer.

Sunday’s reports claim that Juventus have recently submitted a new offer in an attempt to sign Martinez from Aston Villa at €7m plus €3m in bonuses.
