Tottenham ‘strike Cody Gakpo agreement’ as Liverpool decide on Bradley Barcola bid
Liverpool are in the market for attacking reinforcements to freshen up their squad and that could lead to Cody Gakpo being given the green light to join a Premier League rival
Cody Gakpo is understood to have agreed personal terms on a transfer to Tottenham as Liverpool continue to lay the groundwork for a revamp of their attack.
It's been a summer of change for Liverpool, who confirmed back in March that Mohamed Salah would bring the curtain down on his legendary Reds career at the end of the season. That was followed by a change in the dugout, with Arne Slot being replaced by Andoni Iraola as the club's new manager.
Liverpool are yet to pull the trigger on a move for Salah's successor, though Bradley Barcola of Paris Saint-Germain has emerged as their primary target.
But amid speculation that Liverpool are also admirers of Barcola's PSG team-mate, Ibrahim Mbaye, fresh speculation over Gakpo and a transfer away has surfaced.

Tottenham's interest in the Dutchman has been widely speculated throughout the summer as they continue a squad overhaul of their own, led by Roberto De Zerbi.
Dutch outlet Voetbal International even claims that an agreement on personal terms has already been struck, with both clubs and the player himself 'counting on a positive resolution'.
Spurs have already spent a significant amount in the transfer window after narrowly avoiding relegation from the Premier League on the final day of last season, with deals for Sandro Tonali, Matheus Fernandes and Jan Paul van Hecke costing around £237m. They are also expected to pursue a transfer for Manchester City's Savinho before the transfer deadline.
Liverpool have added just one new attacker to their squad so far this summer after beating Newcastle to a deal for the Osasuna winger, Victor Munoz.
He operates primarily on the left, while Rio Ngumoha is expected to be given a more significant role this season after dazzling in cameo appearances last term.
Recent reports have indicated that Liverpool are preparing to pause their attempts to sign Barcola given the European champions' huge valuation of the 23-year-old, with speculation that they would demand at least £145m to sanction his departure.
PSG have just finalised a €55million (£48m) deal to bring the Ajax winger, Mika Godts, to Paris, though, which may indicate that they are already planning for life after the Frenchman.
