Genoa discussing deal for Brighton and ex-Roma striker Ferguson

Reports in Italy claim that Daniele De Rossi’s Genoa are in discussions over a potential deal for Republic of Ireland striker Evan Ferguson, who spent the 2025-26 season on loan from Brighton in Serie A with Roma.

Report: Genoa interested in Ferguson on loan from Brighton

Ferguson scored five goals and provided two assists from 22 appearances across all competitions with the Giallorossi last campaign, but struggled to win over Giallorossi head coach Gian Piero Gasperini and continued to struggle with injuries during his time at the Stadio Olimpico.

Gasperini and Ferguson were briefly reunited on the touchline when Roma faced Brighton in a pre-season friendly at The Amex last weekend, a game for which Ferguson was not involved.

Considered surplus to requirements under Fabian Hurzeler, Ferguson could be on the lookout for a new club again this summer, and according to reports from Gianluca Di Marzio, Genoa rea currently making enquiries.

De Rossi’s side are reportedly interested in taking the 26-year-old on another season-long loan deal, but are making their internal assessments first before progressing in negotiations with Brighton.
