Lazio look to sell Tavares for €20m after Porto and Beşiktaş snub

Lazio have set a €20m asking price for Nuno Tavares as they look to move on the out-of-favour full-back, with earlier approaches from Porto and Beşiktaş having failed to develop.
According to Tuttomercatoweb, relaying Corriere dello Sport, Tavares is firmly among Lazio’s sacrificeable players, so much so that he has not featured for a single minute of pre-season, cutting an almost mysterious figure in the eyes of coach Gennaro Gattuso.
While a lingering knee problem continues to bother him, the paper frames his troubles as being more about the market than his fitness. Porto, under Francesco Farioli, made a move in mid-July, but the player was not convinced, while a long courtship from Beşiktaş failed to yield anything concrete.

Turkish move possible as Lazio seek Tavares sale
The Turkish Super Lig could yet come back into the picture for the Portuguese, who remains on Lazio’s list of expendable names.
The Biancocelesti’s valuation starts at €20m, though the figure comes with a significant caveat, as around 40% of any fee would go to Arsenal under the sell-on clause included when they bought him from the Gunners.
For a club working within tight financial constraints, offloading Tavares would help fund the reinforcements Gattuso has requested.
The left-back began his Serie A career in dazzling fashion, with a flurry of assists, before injuries and a difficult second season saw him slide down the pecking order, and now, with his Lazio future at a crossroads, a summer exit increasingly looks the likeliest outcome.
