Gabbia joins growing list of Milan absentees for Manchester United test

Matteo Gabbia is the latest player to be ruled out of the upcoming pre-season friendly between Milan and Manchester United on Saturday as the centre-back has reported an issue with his ankle according to the latest updates.

Gabbia ruled out of Milan vs. Manchester United

Recently-appointed Milan head coach Ruben Amorim will lead his side into a pre-season friendly against his former club Manchester United in Wroclaw, Poland on Saturday, but the Rossoneri are expected to be without at least eight members of their first team squad.

That is because in the month since Amorim was appointed, he has been taking his time to make assessments on the current players at his disposal, and according to reports on Thursday, has now come up with a list of players he feels will not be part of his project and should be sold.

They include Fikayo Tomori, David Odogu, Youssouf Fofana and Christopher Nkunku, whilst Rafael Leao, Santiago Gimenez and Pervis Estupinan remain on the fringes and could also be moved on if appropriate offers come in.

None of them are expected to be involved against Manchester United on Saturday. Christian Pulisic has also not returned to first-team action yet this summer.

Now, Amorim will have to do without Gabbia as well because Gianluca Di Marzio and various other reporters have confirmed that the Italian is suffering from an impact injury to his ankle and will therefore stay at home in Milan this weekend.

Mario Gila is back with the squad, though, and may have to be thrown in from the start given the shortage of numbers at centre-back with no Gabbia, Tomori or Odogu.
