Kyle Walker lined up for immediate Premier League return after Burnley relegation

Kyle Walker suffered relegation with Burnley last season but has remained with them in the Championship, however he could received an offer to make a Premier League return

Kyle Walker could be handed a route back into the Premier League with Everton keen on signing the veteran right-back.

The ex-Manchester City star suffered relegation with the Clarets in his first season at Turf Moor and is now tasked with getting them out of the Championship, but the Toffees could finally land the Englishman.

Twice in the past they've missed out on Walker. They were in for him before he moved to Burnley 12 months ago and back when Walker was a teenager they also tried to sign him, but he made the move to Tottenham.

Everton could be successful with their third try, according to The Sun, as David Moyes looks to add more experience and quality to his squad on Merseyside.

The Toffees have already signed the likes Brennan Johnson, Christian Norgaard and Tyrique George this summer. Johnson became their latest addition this week as he was involved in a swap deal that saw Dwight McNeil head to Crystal Palace.

Walker, now 36, made 35 starts for Burnley in the Premier League last season, highlighting his durability despite his age. He's chosen to remain with the club and scored the winning penalty in their spot-kick Carabao Cup victory over Notts County on Saturday.

The ex-international can boast a CV that includes six Premier League titles and the Champions League but maintained that he's relishing the challenge of the Championship once again. He's previously played in the second tier with Sheffield United and QPR.

Whilst at Loftus Road he was part of a team that would claim the title and believes that Burnley have all the tools to make an immediate return to the top flight.

"Things aren’t always going to go as planned," he said. "This season might not go as planned. It might not be as plain sailing as we all want it to be. But I feel with the quality, what we have in the dressing room, that’s what we should be doing: getting promoted and going back to the Premier League."

Since 2013 Burnley have won promotion from the Championship on four occasions - but been relegated as many times. This is their sixth straight year playing in a different tier following a period of ups and downs.
